Bathrooms mix water and electricity in a small space, so the electrical code is strict about them for good reason. They are also the room where poor lighting and a single outlet get old fast.
Whether you are fixing one dead outlet or redoing the whole bathroom, our licensed electricians plan the wiring so it is safe, works the way you use the room, and passes inspection when one is required.
Bathroom electrical work we do
Most bathroom calls fall into one or more of these:
- GFCI outlet installation and replacement, including outlets that will not reset
- Vanity lights and mirror lighting, with switch or dimmer upgrades
- Recessed lighting, including damp or wet rated fixtures over showers
- Exhaust fan installation, replacement, and fan and light combos
- Extra outlets for hair tools, heated seats, and other gear
- Dedicated bathroom circuits during a remodel
Why GFCI protection matters
A GFCI outlet shuts off power in a fraction of a second when it senses current leaking somewhere it should not, like through water or a person. Code requires GFCI protection for bathroom outlets. Many older Bakersfield homes still have plain outlets near the sink.
If your GFCI keeps tripping or will not reset, the cause can be a worn device, moisture in a box, or a problem on another outlet that shares the same protection. We test and find the source.
Lighting that works for the room
Good bathroom lighting comes from the sides and front of the mirror, not just one fixture overhead. We help you pick a layout, then run the wiring and boxes so fixtures sit level and centered.
Over a tub or shower, fixtures must be rated for wet or damp locations. We make sure every fixture is listed for where it goes.
Bathroom remodels
If walls are open, it is the best time to add circuits, move outlets, and add lighting. We work with your contractor or with you directly so the electrical rough-in is ready on schedule.
